The primary purpose of the Zoning Hearing Board is to ensure fair and equitable application and administration of the Zoning Ordinance. The Board hears appeals on the zoning officer’s determinations, and grants relief from the literal enforcement of the Ordinance in certain hardship situations. The Board has no legislative power or enforcement powers. Is it a quasi-judicial body, meaning that its powers resemble those of a court or judge. They are able to remedy a conflict situation or impose legal penalties on a person or organization.
