Wilkinsburg Chamber of Commerce
The Greater Wilkinsburg Chamber of Commerce ensures the growth, prosperity and sustainability of businesses in Wilkinsburg and surrounding communities.
Our organization has been in existence since 1893 working to promote the businesses located in our area.
Our purpose is to build and sustain community partnerships, provide resources to new and expanding businesses, act as a leader in the greater Wilkinsburg business community, and act as a catalyst for new development projects.
The Free Store Wilkinsburg
“Free Store Wilkinsburg‘s mission is to redistribute new and lightly used goods at no cost to community members to bridge times of financial stress and emergency.”
FSW relies on donations by corporate partners, community members, and volunteers. At a time of change in Wilkinsburg, FSW strives to make a meaningful contribution to the Borough’s revitalization efforts and the people who live in and around Wilkinsburg.
Founded in 2015, FSW is an independently operated 501c3 formed to fill a “need gap” that currently exists in our community.
Hosanna House
The Hosanna House is a multi-purpose community center which serves over 27,000 people a year. They impact youth, families and individuals with quality health and human services. Hosanna House provides a variety of services and programs that include: early childhood education, youth recreation, tutoring and mentoring, youth and adult technology, men’s services, workforce development, health and dental care, and permanent supportive housing.
Milestone
Milestone is a private, nonprofit community mental health and mental retardation agency serving the needs of residents in western Pennsylvania. Our agency offers confidential counseling, rehabilitation and training, information and referral services, consultation, education and prevention services, developmental activities programs, and much more.
Pittsburgh Housing Development Association, Inc.
PHDA empowers low and moderate income families who dream of owning a home – through education, by helping them qualify for first-time homebuyer assistance, and by linking them to community resources. Bringing together concerned individuals, corporations, churches and government entities, we believe that helping families buy and maintain their first home is a first step to renewing neighborhoods.
Nine Mile Watershed Association, Inc.
The Nine Mile Run Watershed is a small urban watershed located in Pittsburgh’s East End. Covering just 6.5 square miles, the watershed is home to numerous exciting initiatives, including the largest urban stream restoration in the United States completed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The Nine Mile Run Watershed Association complements this amazing physical transformation with a variety of innovative urban ecology projects designed to directly involve the community in helping to improve the health of the watershed.
MAD DADS of Greater Pittsburgh
Based in Wilkinsburg, M.A.D.D.A.D.S. of Greater Pittsburgh seeks out, encourages, motivates and guides committed men in the struggle to save children, communities and ourselves from the social ills that presently plague neighborhoods. M.A.D.D.A.D.S. stands for Men Against Destruction – Defending Against Drugs And Social Disorder.
Community LIFE
Community LIFE provides older adults with worry-free, fully integrated and coordinated health and social services, usually at no cost to qualified individuals.Qualifying participants in the Community LIFE program are transported to their day health center on an as-needed basis, to receive healthcare and social services, meals and to participate in various activities. Additional services are also available for participants in their homes.
Wilkinsburg Community Ministry
The Wilkinsburg Community Ministry (WCM), a non-profit addressing food and related poverty issues, shares food with households in and around Wilkinsburg, Edgewood and Swissvale. WCM is part of the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank’s network of local pantries and collaborates with Feeding America and No Child Hungry. Distribution is available Monday through Friday, 9-1 (closed on Federal holidays). Households may come two times a week. WCM also offers special boxes for such major holidays as Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter, and pre-registration is required for these special distributions. Donations of food, toiletries and sundries are also accepted at the office.
A Peace of Mind
Our Mission: To provide quality caring therapy to a community of people, this will establish a vision of peace, wholeness and enhance the quality of life.
A Peace of Mind Inc. (APOM) a 501(c)(3) organization is a therapeutic art studio offering a variety of programming from hip hop for kids and Zumba® for adults, to yoga, all at an affordable community rental space. APOM, Inc. will also soon offer a 20-hour daycare service for children 6 weeks to 12 years of age. Our goal is to initiate collaborative community wellness with reasonable, relevant and overall enjoyable programming. We presently offer, Painting Through Pain, an art therapy initiative for teens struggling with PTSD, depression and or anxiety. We know that ART is universal, and can be used to heal, repair and reconnect.
